Cultural travel writer and English conversation teacher working inside communities, not just visiting them.
Introduction
I’m a qualified secondary teacher, TEFL English teacher, and cultural travel writer. I spend extended time living in places, observing and recording daily life through art, history, food, landscape, and local culture. I am currently writing a novel set in Castille y León, alongside articles for national newspapers and my Substack, where I publish longer-form essays and reflections from the road.
I don’t pass through destinations. I stay long enough to understand them.
I write about what I observe and photograph what I see, using images to support reporting rather than stage it.
You can read my ongoing travel writing and essays here at Substack on: https://culturalexplorer.substack.com/
While living in each location, I also run small-group English conversation classes designed to help local people gain the confidence to speak English through the subjects I know best: culture, history, travel, and daily life.
These are not traditional lessons. They are cultural conversations in English.
Travel, for me, is not about seeing places. It is about understanding how people live — and helping others find the language to do the same.
